Loma de los Muertos – Cerro de las Grajas, Cerralba
This circular walk starts in the small village of Cerralba, not far from Pizarra.
A lot of the route follows the old acequia irrigation canals and pipes. In its hay day it must have been an amazing feat of engineering. Unfortunately most of it has gone to rack and ruin.
The walk is on good tracks, passing agricultural areas and several farms.
There is a short stretch along the Rio Grande before returning back to the start.
There is a newish bar which I came across – AL Son de Maria, which seams popular with the locals (but I didn’t try it).
It’s a good flattish walk in the campo. This walk is suitable for dogs.

Hello Tony! This hike was fantastic! The contours of the planted fields combined with the dappled sunlight had me snapping incredible photos. The section along the Rio Grande river was tranquil with some families enjoying the water and picnicking. I will try to email you my photos since you didn’t seem to have good weather when you recorded the hike. 🤗

After I sent my first message, I realized that I can’t email you. You can see my photos on the Wikiloc hike we did today named Cerralba. Enjoy!
