Itinerary description
Incomplete as my battery died out just before reaching the Castaño Santo.
I parked just behind the building site of "Lomas de la Quinta". you get there by following the road from La Quinta that goes along the golf course and the Guadaiza river, then there's a new bridge and asfalted road crossing the river which takes you uphill to Lomas. Fromt there, finding your way is really easy, you just follow the dirt track all the way to the signpost that says "Castaño Santo" some 13 kms up the road. It took me about 3 hours to get there and the walk down was about 2h 15 min, I was partly running to get to the car before the dark.
All in all some 26 kms, why it is classified as "moderate" - it's a long walk!
The scenery is beautiful though, you pass through a lush forest of pine trees and cork.
