Itinerary description
As this multi day trekking takes place in very remote areas, with no phone coverage, and with the possibility of not meeting anyone for days, to avoid problems and to warn those who download this gps tracks, I decided to classify each track as VERY DIFFICULT although in reality every single day is indeed different, and specifically there may be stretches which can be considered moderate.
DAY SIX ON LONSORAEFI TRAIL.
FROM ESKIFELL HUT TO STAFAFELL CAMPGROUND (ring road).
17,5KM. 487MT UPHILL. 534MT DOWNHILL.
FULL PACKED BACKPACK.
RETRACE BACK TO THE JUNCTION OF THE OFFICIAL LONSORAEFI TRAIL AND THEN FOLLOW AGAIN THE POLES.
THIS FIRST PART IS VERY EASY TILL YOU REACH THE BIG BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER (Jokulsa I Loni).
ONCE YOU CROSS THE RIVER, AFTER A LITTLE STRETCH IN THE BIRCH WOOD FOREST, PAY ATTENTION TO SOME RISKY STEPS (very small track running over slippery slopes few meters above the river).
THEN YOU REACH A WIDE ALLUVIONAL RIVERBED AND WALKING STRAIGHTFORWARD NEAR THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAINS YOU REACH THE RING ROAD (here the poles are less visible or there are no poles at all; in good weather conditions this is not a problem).
