Los Barreras to portillo tfpr 56 . Portelas part tfpr 51 circular

We started at the bottom of the tarmac road as you can't drive past this point and walked up to a large farm steel gate on your right. Enter here you can take with path but we turned first left. Follow and bear right up the path below and enter forest at any point on your left then follow and stay left until you meet the road tfpr 56 follow down and there is a signed turning on your left . Into the forest it is a very stoney rough uneven rocky path to Portelas.The views are amazing. In rain will be extreme slippy . We carry on until we meet a cobbled path and a viewpoint ideal for a rest and lunch . Albergue Bolico. Then down through the village under a flyover to the bus stop portelas bajo there are signs opposite. Turn left at the end of this road follow signs for ruta de aqua tfpr 51.
We follow the 51 for about 3.3 km once you pass the sigh for prtf 52.1 it's nit far . You turn right if the path a short distance then back on it then you follow an old boundary line on your left it's very steep and long . Slippery but beautiful . Head towards casa tomillo but we don't go there and you come to an option to turn right or down left you can do either but we took the right which brought us out to the 56 then back. Weather started sunny and changed to completely wild . Please hike prepared and you need boots or good hiking trainers for this walk . Ended up in another app at 17.4 km . Climbs in total over 1200 . Drops 660 . It's a walk to do at your own pace and relax . We drank nearly 2 liters water and needed our waterproofs.

You could choose different ways to get to cumbre de casa and start the 56 there . At the moment the trail to Santiago del teife is closed from there
