The Los Condes Circuit Variations are some of my favourite walks in the Sierra de Mijas. They are scenic, peaceful and not crowded.
It’s a good workout, usually about an hour of uphill before the start of the descent.
Los Condes Circuit Variation No 2
This circular walk starts from the very small hamlet of Los Condes, near Valtocado, on the outskirts of Mijas.
It circles La Adelfa by going up the left hand side of the ravine, then cutting across the Pista Sur, and then it’s a gentle downhill hike with panoramic views of the coast.
On a good day you can see Gibraltar and Northern Africa. As you continue you pass two ravines, El Pedregal and Cueva de las Tres Puertas, before turning off and passing the very small urbanisation of Alta Verde.
Continue going down and it will bring you to the main road A387, where you have about 500m to get back to the starting point.
It is a short hike in beautiful woodlands with great panoramic views.
There is about 60 % shade on the walk.
It goes without saying the earlier you start the more shade you will have.
The path is sandy, rocky and stony, made up mainly of limestone and sandstone. I would recommend walking boots instead of trainers.
Venta los Condes - This great little Venta has had a change of ownership; it has been reformed and gone upmarket. The change is amazing. It is run by my friend Jimmy Stavos, whom I have known for more than 17 years.
It provides a unique blend of traditional venta and fine dining.
You can also turn up for only a drink after a walk.
If you want to eat there it’s better to make an appointment as it gets booked up very quickly
