Los Tres Miradores de El Juanar (The three Miradors of El Juanar)
This walk incorporates the three viewing Miradors of El Juanar in the Sierra Blanca, Ojen. The first Mirador being the - Mirador de Cerro Nicolas.
This first part is a little hidden gem. Please note it is uphill all the way but shouldn’t take more than half an hour.
The walk starts just past the Refugio de Juanar hotel. There is a little brown arrow with Cerro Nicolas on it.
It is a pleasant hike up to the Mirador. The gradient can vary from 5 -45 degrees at times, and it will take about half an hour to get to the summit.
There are some great 360 degree views from the summit. This is a good spot for a picnic. This hike would be nice as an early evening walk as it only takes half an hour to climb down.
The next section of the walk you pick up on the Sendero El Juanar – Puerto Marbella.
This part takes in the two famous Miradors in the area. The first one goes up to the Mirador del Corzo which you eventually get to by climbing up stone steps. It overlooks Ojen with panoramic views.
From here you make your way to the Mirador del Macho Montes just past Puerto Marbella with views looking down on Marbella and Cruz de Juanar hill on your right.
If you are lucky you can usually come across the mountain goats which are fed just before the Mirador, usually around 10 -12am.
The return journey goes into the Olivar de Juanar area which has lovely shade from pine and eucalyptus trees.
Overall this is an amazing walk in an amazing area.
I had about 80% shade.
A word of warning, it gets very busy at the weekends and bank holidays are a nightmare.
