Los Tres Senderos, Paco Romero – Paco Arjona – Manuel García Rosa

This is my take on joining three nice linear walks in the Sierra del Burgo / Sierra de las Nieves and making a circular route. The walk is in four sections.

I have classified this walk as hard only because of the last section coming down the firebreak (It is steep and you should use walking poles for added safety). For the most part it is a medium hike.

The walk starts at an area called la Parrilla, where you can park your car at the side of the road *just a bit further up from la Fuensanta recreational area.

Section one is Sendero Paco Romero which makes its way to the Mirador Puerto de Ronda and then to the Cortijo Roza del Escribano. From here you pick up on the second Sendero – Paco Arjona which makes its way to Fuente Platero. On route you come to the Mirador José María Pereña, which looks out towards the Peñón de Ronda. A long the way there is a little detour to Panorámica Él Acecuchal, where you get 360 degree views. Crossing over the Puente de los Voluntarios there is a stone seating which is a good spot for a peaceful break.

Pass the Fuente Platero and then pick up section three which is Sendero Manuel García Rosa, which is mainly uphill to Puerto de la Mujer. From here you pick up the GR 243 (El Burgo to Ronda Sendero), until you get to section four – the Firebreak.

The path is not really visible now as the foresters having been cleaning up the firebreak with strimmers and bulldozers. The descent is steep at times and I would highly recommend 2 walking poles. It was quite challenging at times. Eventually you get to La Fuensanta Carril, which will take you back to the start.

I would suggest doing the route in reverse going up the firebreak first, which is a bit of a climb.
At the end of the day this is a good challenging hike with lots of panoramic views, with lots of peace and tranquillity.
