Itinerary description
Credit to Marklav and others who have posted this walk.
This is a spectacular hike! But there are sections that are not for everyone, I would recommend to read all posts regarding the ascent/descent from both lost world & The castle Crag and consider the ability of ya buddies as well.

We left O’reillys at about 8am and set up camp at lost world around 4pm.
After you pass the Rat a tat turn-off the track is not defined and rarely marked, the ridges are fairly easy to follow but be prepared for a fair bit of ducking and weaving through some dense forest sections.
The bluff at the start of Mt. Razorback is fairly exposed but easy to navigate onto the ridge.
There was water in lost world creek, about 50m or so west of the creek there is a track down to the bottom of the small waterfall.
Day 2 we took off about 6:30am, the descent off the plateau was through a grassy section which was hard to see without getting close to the edge.
This little section was pretty hairy and really needs to be thought out.
grass, loose rocks and not much to hold onto
There was 1 small tree that had been tagged which indicated the way down.
Once down to the footpad follow it along and back up to the next ridge, you will soon come across a cairn where you turn down to the north to avoid a bluff, again follow the footpad back up onto the ridge to the next bluff
There is a small climb down to the north which gets you down to the grassy slip and slide below
From here straight down hill to the Albert river, as you descend you will get good glimpses of the castle crag, we had a bit of trouble finding the exact location to scramble the last 40m or so down to the river, again there was very little to hang onto.
If you go down the wrong section you will be soup.
Once in the creek we headed up stream about 50m before finding a spot to bash through the lantana to the north, you will know when you are through as it’s the start of a beastly uphill slog to the castle crag
Go up hill
Once at the base of the crag we clambered along the northern side for about 400m
This section is steep and there is not much more that grass and loose rocks to hold onto, I would say this is the riskiest section by far
we found a track up to the top of the Crag and had a near miss with a falling rock followed by a direct hit only seconds later,
I need to stress how unstable this area is
From the top of the Crag it’s a basic walk back to O’reillys, we finished up at 12:20pm.
I have rated the technical difficulty as “ Experts only” I am not an expert hiker but I am saying that due to the two sections mentioned above this hike isn’t just “very difficult”

Great wrap of the trail (and the non-trail!). Maybe possible to do in a day, although would be a big day out. Plenty of exposure and no fall zones..balanced by stunning views and low trafficked trails… we didn’t see a single other hiker once we left graded trails..
