Itinerary description
The track Starts with a climb through the pine woods for a short while, until reaching an uphill rocky terrain with formed steps of various sizes. Eventually the path enters the trees where we turn hard right and climbing to a small plateau at 620m which gives excellent viewpoint of Ardales and the Lakes. From here we head due east for approximately 30 minutes following a firebreak, coming to El Chorro gorge with our first views of Caminito del Rey. We start making our way down a steep downhill track to our lunch stop. After lunch we turn down a single file track which can be a little tricky in places, before we join a wider track. Here we take an optional detour up to a broad plateau with second views of the Caminito del Rey and the Rio Guadalhorce flowing down to El Chorro, well worth the small detour. Returning back down the wider track to the lake passing through the pedestrian tunnel.
