Itinerary description
Highly suitable for an after-work walk on a summer evening. From the summit of Lyderhorn, one of the 7 mountains or Bergen, one has commanding views over the outer islands as well as the inland, with the Folgefonna icea cap clearly visible. The trail commences at the Kjokkelvikken gas storage and is the size of a small road due to its high popularity. After 5 of walking over the beautifully cobbled trail, one leaves the build-up area (and the nasty fumes of the gas storage) behind. Now the trail starts to become increasingly steep, snaking its way towards an extensive plateau around 250 m.a.s.l. from where you can clearly see Lyderhorn. The final push for the summit is quite easy, although the last bit takes you over steep sheets of rock. This part can be avoided by taking the smaller trail on the left of the peak. Retrace your steps for the return journey.
