Itinerary description
A walk to the biggest lake in polish Tatry (Morskie Oko), rather easy. The lake is really beautiful and you may extend the walk to the upper lake (Czarny staw) as well but the additional elevation is about 300 meters.
For lazy hikers there is a horse ride wagons almost to the lake and back for 50 pln per head one way (only cash). Entrance to the park is 8 pln (adults).
Parking which is close to the entrance to the National park is possible to book via internet.
TERRAIN: mostly asphalt road with mild elevation. There is a shortcut at some point which is stone paved with steeper elevation. There is a stone paved trail around the lake .
SEASON: the way to the lake is walkable all year round. In hot summers there is not much shade especially in midday.
SIGNS: there are signs showing the way but you go with the flow, as the trail is extremely popular and there is only one asphalt road to the lake. There are resting and picnic spots along the way as well as there are restaurants 1,5 kms before and at the lake.
KIDS: walkable with kids of any age, also with prams but up to the lake, not possible around the lake. Left bank walk is safer for little kids.
