Itinerary description

Estimate: 27km, +1.200m, -1.200m
This estimate is probably more realistic than the altitude components measured by my smartphone GPS. Please find the tracks of the other days by searching Wikiloc for "Madeira Feb2016" or in my own comment below (you will see it in the classical PC view, not in the mobile view).

Start 9:10. End 18:10. On most part of this track the tarrain - and the views to enjoy - is not for fast walking.

Km 0. Hotel.
Km 2.6. The track does not follow the road, but a steep path slightly more to the left.
Km 26.6. Holiday resort.

From after km 2.6 to about km 11 this is a spectacular walk along high cliffs. It should not be done with rainy or windy weather. Then comes an ugly part until km 15, and later another spectacular walk from km 19 to 22 and back to 25 on Ponta do São Lorenço. It got very windy there, so that I could hardly walk straight, but I did not feel it was too dangerous.

At Caniçal (km 13.4) you could split this into two separate day hikes. I had taken my time to enjoy the views on the cliffs before Caniçal and then on Ponta do São Lorenço I was in a hurry to arrive at my accomodation before sunset.
