Itinerary description
We started in Ilha, Santana (485 meters altitude) and we finish at the top of Madeira Island, at Pico Ruivo (1861m altitude). the path uphill was not very long, about 9km but it was very hard.
We decided to take another route on our way down, so we went to Achadas do Teixeira and took the road until Pico das Pedras.
At Pico das Pedras it was a easy ride to Queimadas and then to a point between Queimadas and Caldeirão Verde were we had to go down to Ilha once again.
That's when the GPS died, no more battery and we were already with our flashlighs on. The night had already settle.
So on our way down.. we got semi lost one time and we don't know how, bue we still found a box of geocaching that we were looking for when we were going up. So geo caching in the dark is a lot of fun. :D
We begun at 8h55 and ended at 20h47. It was a long walk.
