Itinerary description
Route through the island of Madeira that crosses the highest area of the island. The journey was done solo, starting from the viewpoint of Pico Arieiro with the final destination of Achada do Teixeira.
The trail is in excellent condition, with railings in all the dangerous sections, making it possible to hike it individually without any problem. It is a wonderful trail with challenging ascents but always safe. I passed through three tunnels, so it's necessary to bring a light to go through them. The landscapes are impressive, both from the highest points and along the inner route, which is of volcanic origin.
Reaching the summit of Pico Ruivo on a clear day is a privilege, as you can see parts of the island's cities, including the island of Porto Santo.
