Itinerary description
Maja Jezerce is highest peak on Prokletije or Accursed Mountain as known in most of the parts of the world. It is also known as Albanian Alps very popular for it's hiking and tracking trails from Valbona to Teth Valley and from there to peaks of the massive.
Kafe Simoni (trail uploaded bellow on how to get there and info for the van transport that will take you to the start of hiking trail) Maja Jezerce.
Trail is recorded 01 Aug. 2021 and you can see the amount of ice and snow on the pictures uploaded, this means you need full winter equipment plus climbing equipment.
There are several sections that will lead you to summit and few are risky, first risk you'll face are valleys of ice and snow few meters deep for which you'll need crampons and ice ax to pass them safely. Second section are exposed rocks for which you need experience in alpine climbing. Third section is passing trough narrow vertical corridor (kuloar) with help of metal rope - and this is why you'll need guide to find the place where the rope is.
Last section is ascent to Jezerce Peak.
Worst part of all is descent.
I would recommend to hire professional guide who will safely guide you trough this trail as it is not marked well and when you seek for markation, you won't find it.
Trail is risky, needs well physical and mental condition, full concentration.
This is not a trail where you can make mistakes or explore.
Take a look at last pictures uploaded, those were taken at some of the places I mentioned with high risk. If you're not ready for this, choose another trail, you have Maja Rosi near, safe trail with beautiful view 😉
