Itinerary description
This is a moderate 3-3.5hour 11km circular walk with a total ascent of 272 metres.
The start point is amongst a grove of large wind turbines with spectacular mountain views. The walk commences with a long gentle descent ca 3km on a path taking in the Barranco de la Zarabanda towards the Guadiaro river. The track passes through olive trees, cork oaks and Mediterranean vegetation.
Once in the valley floor the track passes alongside citrus and olive groves and initially follows the Zarabanda stream. It then joins a wide track and winds around the valley passing agricultural land, horse stables and a large polo playing field. This section is essentially “on the flat” for about 4-5km.
The route then ascends the Barranco de Las Hoyas to reach the starting point.
