Itinerary description
A lovely 17km loop starting at Tres Pins Refuge in Margalef. The hike up to the Ermita/church at Sant Salvador is pretty steady going, though it noticeably steepens from the spring until the relatively flat top and the peak at El Cogul, with terrific views North towards the Pyrenees (we could probably see 50-100 miles of snow capped peaks in the distance) and also South towards Falset (see photo). The descent takes you all the way down to the head of the reservoir East of Margalef, with a relatively easy few km back into town. It's not a desperately hard trek, but graded it as difficult to err on the side of caution. You do need to have a reasonable fitness and might consider taking poles for the downhill sections if you have bad knees.
