Itinerary description
- Cortijo Rufino (4.5 km)
- Mirador Tajo de los Bueyes (6.1 km)
- Cueva de Nerja (10.6 km)
This is a really beautiful walk.
You can either start at the parking of the Cueva de Nerja, or along the N 340 near the footbridge, or at the end of the short tunnel at the roundabout, as we did.
For the first two kilometres the track goes up gradually, and once it gets narrow will provide you with the cooling shade of the trees on the steep slopes around you.
Once it gets steeper you will gradually get out of the woods and will be able to enjoy the breathtaking views that this walk provides from now on. Views on the coast and deep into the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama.
The abandoned house, the Cortijo Rufino, which you can see long before you reach it, is beautifully situated.
After that the track goes up and down for a while until you reach a broad track, the Sendero de Pico el Cielo.
From now on the views will be constantly all around you and you can stay on the dirtroad, with concrete stretches now and then, apart from three shortcuts, indicated by the signposts, yellow/white, of the Sendero de Pico el Cielo.
