Itinerary description
A long walk, but absolutely worth it. You walk first through the village Alcuéscar, past the Plaza de España and the church. Then you pass to the more flat countryside in direction of a beautiful small reservoir. The dam on the far side of the reservoir dates from the Roman times, although it is repaired many times since. In winter and spring there is usually quite a lot of water and you can see many water birds. Past the dam the road follows a less used track, past some old water mills, now completely in ruins. You have to double up on the way back, and again you will pass through the village. There are a number of nice café's and restaurants to have a rest and/or refreshment. The last stretch leads you back to Martyn Laguna on an easy road.
