Itinerary description
This hike provides some decent views down the Meade's Creek Valley towards the Lake. The hike is completely on a logging road which runs high above the west side of the Creek so although you can sometimes hear it, you never actually see it until you reach the bridge crossing at the end of the trail.
You can see a variety of stages in the log harvest cycle from standing 2nd growth, to re-planted 3rd growth to recent and not so recent clear cuts.
Be aware that there may be active logging on this road!! There is parking at the trailhead and along the sides of Highway 18. Warning: do not park beyond the yellow gate, you may return to your car to find the gate locked.
Retreads Hiking Club gives this hike an AVA rating of 3 A.
