Mesa Mota circular- ⭐⭐

Parque Mesa Mota bevindt zich in de buurt van La Laguna en ligt op een hoogte van 734m. Langs de andere zijde ligt Tegueste en het Anaga-gebergte (Macizo de Anaga). De weg naar de top van deze berg is in heel slechte staat, maar is zeker te doen met de wagen.
Vanaf de top vertrekken diverse wandelpaden en bevindt er zich helaas ook een verlaten gebouw waarvan de geschiedenis begint in de jaren vijftig. In die tijd kreeg de architect Miguel Martín-Fernández de La Torre de opdracht om een sociaal gebouw en een schietbaan en een hostel te ontwerpen en te bouwen in het bovenste deel van Mesa Mota. Het werk werd uitgevoerd tot 1964 en is toen helaas nooit voltooid. Aan zijn lot overgelaten, kwijnde het weg totdat de gemeenteraad van La Laguna in 2001 begon met de restauratie van het gebouw.
Volgens de toenmalige pers was het plan om het te rehabiliteren tot een opleidings- en wooncomplex. Er moest een groot pretpark worden gebouwd en een grote parkeergarage met 130 parkeerplaatsen en nog veel meer. Helaas kwam daar ook niets van terecht en werd het gebouw korte tijd gebruikt voor congressen. Tussendoor was er ook nog sprake van een bejaardentehuis, maar daar kwam niets van terecht en dus is het gebouw al jaren in verval, jammer want het is wel een mooie locatie.
Het monument die er staat werd in 2007 gebouwd door de Nederlandse kunstenaar Rudi van de Wint om de 583 slachtoffers van het zware vliegtuigongeval op Los Rodeos Airport in 1977 te herdenken. Het is uitgelijnd met het luchthaventerrein en is 18 meter hoog.
De wandeling zelf brengt je door de mooie fauna van deze groene omgeving met halverwege een stevige klim, maar voor de rest een zeer doenbare en genietbare wandeling!

Varias rutas de senderismo parten de la cima y lamentablemente también hay un edificio abandonado cuya historia comienza en la década de 1950. En ese momento se encargó al arquitecto Miguel Martín-Fernández de La Torre el diseño y construcción de un edificio social y campo de tiro y albergue en la parte alta de Mesa Mota. La obra se llevó a cabo hasta 1964 cuando, lamentablemente, nunca se completó. Abandonado a su suerte, languideció hasta que el Ayuntamiento de La Laguna inició las obras de restauración del edificio en 2001.
Según la prensa de la época, el plan era rehabilitarlo para convertirlo en un complejo de formación y vivienda. Se tuvo que construir un gran parque de atracciones y un gran aparcamiento con 130 plazas de aparcamiento y mucho más. Desafortunadamente, tampoco salió nada de esto y el edificio se usó para conferencias por un corto tiempo. En el medio también se habló de una casa de retiro, pero no resultó nada, por lo que el edificio ha estado en mal estado durante años, una pena porque es un lugar hermoso.
El monumento que allí se erige fue construido en 2007 por el artista holandés Rudi van de Wint para conmemorar a las 583 víctimas del grave accidente aéreo ocurrido en el Aeropuerto de Los Rodeos en 1977. Está alineado con los terrenos del aeropuerto y tiene 18 metros de altura.
La caminata en sí lo lleva a través de la hermosa fauna de esta área verde con una fuerte subida a la mitad, pero por lo demás, ¡una caminata muy factible y agradable!
