Itinerary description
Para la primera salida del Grupo de Senderismo de Kath cogimos el tren a Fuengirola, y desde allí el autobús a Mijas Pueblo. Después de tomar nuestro café, empezamos el camino hacia la Costa. Esta es una variación de una ruta que hacemos todos los años. Pero este año tuvimos una sorpresa muy agradable, hemos encontrado la Peña Caballista, la Retama de Mijas. Esta es la nueva local de la Peña, y están terminando de restaurar lo que era una casa en ruinas. Nos han enseñado el local con todas su facilidades, y nos invitaron a unos refrescos y tapas. Es un sitio bienvenido en el camino desde Mijas a la Costa, y vale la pena hacer una visita. Refrescados, bajamos andando a la Costa donde cogimos el Tren de Cercanías a casa. Una ruta muy fácil, sin dificultades.
As the first of our Walks with Kath's Group, we went by train and bus to Mijas, had a cup of coffee and began our walk down towards Fuengirola. This is a route we walk every year. However this year, to our surprise, we came across the Peña Caballista , la Retama de Mijas. This Peña (Club) have moved to this new location, which they are in the process of refurbishing. They showed us over the new facilities, and entertained us with refreshments and tapas. This is a very welcomed stop on the walk and well worth a visit by any walkers doing the route from Mijas to the Coast. Well refreshed we walked on to the coast to get the train home from Los Boliches. An easy walk, with no difficulties.
