Itinerary description
This route, organised by the Mijas Local Government, with Rosa and Manuel as guides, started from the Tourist Office. We walked up through the streets of the town, until we arrived to the Upper Road. From there we climbed to the Hermitage of the Calvary, which is probably the most difficult part of the walk. After a short rest there, we continued up until we reached the highest point of this walk, where there are spectacular views. We then passed the Quarry, where Manuel explained that from Roman times Marble was quarried to construct many Cathedrals and important Monuments. From there we walked through the Morena Ravine to the Colorado Pass, the most beautiful part of this route, with vegetation and flora in abundance. We descended to the Road, to return to the town, making a stop at the Bar Alarcón for a wine and tapas. Following that we returned through the town to the starting point. This is not a difficult route, and has some beautiful parts, but care has to be taken in some parts due to the stony surfaces. Mijas has many restaurants for a coffee, a drink or lunch following the walk.
