Itinerary description
Mijas Mountain Peak. This is an intense walk as it ascends straight up towards the peak and the descend on the paths with stones is therefore technical. A nice hike overall if you are a trained hiker.
Walk up from the village to the hermitage and just before reaching this, take a right up the path indicated as Benalmadena. Follow the hairpin turns up and keep on the Puerto de Malaga path a the next crossings. At the gravel road, cross and continue up the mountain track - passing the quarry-until te next junction where the Pico is signposted to the left. Now the path is more flat, descends a little until the crossing where the Pico is to the right. The trail is now longer but easy and flat along the valley with superb views to the Marina of Fuengirola all the way to Marbella. After around 20 minutes, we ascend again on a more intense zigzagging path to the finañly reach the peak with bola and antennas! The 360 degrees views are just amazing on a clear day. Clouds here up the mountain are not rare and offer great images....if they open up! ...
