Itinerary description

The walk starts around the newly reconstructed Plaza Virgen de la Peňa.
From here we pass the famous donkey taxis and turn left to the Japanese Gardens,
Then onto the Chapel, Virgin of the Rock, then pass the Flour Mill, Minature Museum
and up to Constitution Square.
From here we go up to the Bullring (constructed in 1900, the only oval one in Spain) and the
Parish Church (built in the 1600 century). Around the fountains, & Auditorium.
(In 1992 reform works found 8 Apostles, paintings on the church columns dating back to 1632).
From here we will go up the tower and around the Fortress walls (La Muralla), which will get us back to Constitution Square.
We then go through a Moorish arch that leads to Camino de la Canteras.
Taking calle Fuente del Algorrobo and going under the old arch, making our way to plaza de la libertad.
Then head up Callė San Sebastian (the most photographed street on the Costa del Sol – don’t ask me why!) And past its Chapel, until we reach the Mirador,
With amazing views of the village, the coast and Africa.
Heading back down we go through a gate and turn left onto calle Larga del Palmar until we arrive at bar El Niňo. (One of the best tapas bars in Mijas)
After leaving the bar take the road calle Agua which takes you to Plaza de Los Siete Caňos and the Chapel of Our Lady of Remedies.
Passing an old forge cave on your left head back to constitution square.
Then into calle Caňos and down the steps back to Plaza Virgen de la Peňa.
The car park and tourist office is just across the road from the square.
And the town hall to the left.
FYI: the car park is only 1 euro per day.
