PR-A 58 Sendero Mina de la Trinidad (Route 5), (Benalmadena)

Meeting Place: By the Mirador of the Stupa / Butterfly park
Take the exit 217 on the A7. At the first two roundabouts go straight ahead. At the 3rd roundabout turn right opposite the butterfly park, there is plenty parking adjacent the Stupa. (There is a cafeteria at the Stupa, but the last two times I have been it wasn’t open)

Only medium because the last 5 minutes has more incline
A walking pole would be advisable for the first 5 minute decent from the mine.
Requirements: Torch, Snack, Walking Pole, Fleece, Good walking boots,
Drink.
Itinerary: This walk is Route R-5 Mina de la Trinidad. We start going up Avenida Retamar then turn left onto Calle Palma del Rio. Go under the subway and take the path on the left.
The path is stony and rocky in parts and sandy with soil in other parts, but
In good condition. The path is wide and the views are breath taking, and
it meanders with a gentle uphill incline.
On your left you have beautiful views of the coast, North Africa and Gibraltar in front of you.
Eventually we come to some stone steps; the path narrows and gets a bit more steeper. It zigzags for 5 minutes before getting to the entrance of the Trinidad mine where we will take a break and admire the views.
For those brave enough we will enter the mine, so some good torches
would be handy for this. If you have one please bring it along.
This 20th century mine produced Iron ore, Ochre and the mineral
Limonita .
We will head back the same way we came, this time you will see views
Of the Bay of Malaga and the snow capped mountains of Sierra Nevada
