Mirador Cerro Pardo – La Vida Misma
This is a lovely walk that starts adjacent to the Guadalhorce reservoir, on the border between Ardales and Campillos.
There are a few off road places to park so parking isn’t a problem at all.
This route uses part of the Málaga GR 249 section 20 that goes to El Chorro Train station.
The funny thing is we passed the Caminito del Rey section, near the two restaurants up to the Posada del Conde Hotel, and it was heaving with people, cars and buses. This was around 11am, and couldn’t see any available parking.
Now drive for less than 2 minutes crossing over the dam to the start of this walk, and we found plenty parking, no traffic, and we didn’t see a single person on this really good walk with amazing views from the Mirador de los Embalses, (which takes about an hour to reach gently uphill and formerly known as Mirador Cerro Pardo). From here you can see the Caminito del Rey and the gorge, the three reservoirs and Teba castle in the distance.
Heading downhill from here I took a small detour to climb up La Vida Misma (limestone rock), which doesn’t look that high until you see it from the otherside, where you will be in for a shock!
Finally meandering your way down to the main road and passing the two quarries which helped to build the dams, you will arrive back to the parking area.
A great tranquil walk in one of my favourite areas.

Great little walk. This one has everything. A great variety of winter flowers and other plants, raptors by the dozen circling overhead, incredible scenery and stunning views. We'll be doing this one again!
