Mirador Juan Antonio Gómez Alarcón – Cantera del Barrio – Ermita del Calvario
This walk starts from the parking area adjacent the Mirador Juan Antonio Alarcón Gómez, on the outskirts of Mijas Village.
From the Mirador go down the steps on your right and pick up the sendero de los Miradores, and where the horse stable is cross over the main road (A 387) and go around the gate to pick up the old quarry road (concrete and uphill). This takes you all the way to the Cantera del Barrio quarry.
From here it’s slightly uphill to what was once a shrine the Cruz de la Misión. From here you zig-zag downhill to the Calvario Hermitage. Then finally back to the Juan Antonio Mirador.
For a short walk there are a lot of views to be had (including Gibraltar on a good day). It’s a good mini workout before having something to eat in the village.
