Itinerary description
The route connects two train stations Molet - Sant Fost and Mongat Nord, and is easily done from Barcelona. It combines several local trails, amongst others Sendero de les Fonts de Santa Maria de Martorelles (SL-C 120) and Sender del Rocar (SL-C 96). It is marked as moderately challenging although some parts could be considered difficult.
From Molet - Sant Fost train station the route crosses C-33 highway by a bridge and proceeds through the industrial and residential parts of Martorelles up to the village of Santa Maria de Martorelles and finally arrives to the base of the forest trail SL-C 120. This trail passes several forest fountains until reaching Poblat Ibèric de Castellruf. It was unexpectedly difficult as it was going through some pretty rough forest terrain. The final climb to the ruins was quite challenging but once there, the view of the Valles was spectacular.
The route then continues past a neolithic monument, Dolmen de Castellruf, to the Geodesic vertex of the Galzeran tower. It is the highest point of the route and the first encounter with the stunning Mediterranean Sea view that persists all the way until Montgat.
The descent goes through a vineyard and joins the SL-C 96 trail with beautiful pine trees on the left and the municipality of Tiana to the right. It is quite steep and slippery but the view of the sea and Barcelona in the distance makes up for it. The finishing part follows the railway until it finally reaches Montgat Nord train station.
