Itinerary description
A walk commencing in Santiago del Teide and circling around Montaña Bilma. After the initial steep climb, the walk levels out and follows broad tracks before leaving these to cross rough paths across lava flows. As the walk descends, the area around the old quarry on the slopes of Montaña Bilma is currently active, presumably because of the tunnelling work being carried out in the valley (May 2021). Because of this, I left the main path and descended right on a vehicle track to access the return path but this is not necessary as the path is signposted at the bottom of the descent. I did the walk on a Sunday so there was no work in progress but the situation may be different during the week so this needs to be taken into account.
I also left the outward path near the end of the walk and returned along the road into Santiago del Teide but this is not necessary, you can simply retrace the first part of the walk back to the start point if you prefer.
