Itinerary description
A walk around the prominent dome of Montaña Tejina. Starting from Tejina de Isora, the route follows a scenic path into the Barranco de Guaria. I walked along the barranco floor for a short while before returning to climb into the village of Acojeja. I have read that there is a waterfall in the barranco but the way along the barranco floor is rough and rocky and probably only worth doing after rain, so I didn't go too far in. In Acojeja, there is a winepress at the entrance to the village. From the village, an extremely steep, rocky trail is followed, although I mostly used the road that it parallels. This is longer because of the wide, looping bends but it is less steep and there is no traffic. The walk passes through El Choro before crossing the Barranco de Guaria again into the village of Las Fuentes where you will find the remains of a traditional way of life. From here, it is possible to climb to the summit of Montaña Tejina where you will find an ermita and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The return route is via the Camino Montiel, which passes by the ruins of Finca Montiel. Here, you will find an old laundry area with stone sinks as well as water cisterns, a threshing circle and another wine press in a cave just behind the water cistern. The return path to Tejina is via an old, overgrown camino which crosses the Barranco Bicacaro and the Barranco Cuescara.
Update: I re-walked this route in July 2021 in the opposite direction i,e. anti-clockwise, which I preferred. The dirt track to the village has now been surfaced, although this doesn't affect the walk.

I’m giving it 5 stars because:
1) it’s a nice hike
2) it’s in Tenerife South
3) it’s a hike a bit off the classic routes
4) it’s a loop (so convenient !)
I totally agree that it’s better to do the hike anti-clockwise.
An advice to those who don’t like walking on paved roads: enjoy it while you can, you never know what comes next 😉

Nice hike. We added the Mt Tejina peak too. Nice and easy to follow (would say do it anticlockwise like other comments say). thanks
