Itinerary description
Montanha do Pico – Piquinho hiking. We wanted to start from sea level and go up and down in the shortest possible distance. This lead us to start the hike in São Caetano and take three shortcuts to Casa da Montanha, from where we followed the guided path to the peak.
Taking the shortcuts means getting off the main track and passing near the cattle at some points, but they make the hike much more direct. The path is steep but not technically difficult, although the last part may be a bit slippery if it rains. It took us 11h, including breaks and photos.
If you are lucky and it’s not too cloudy, the views from the peak are so cool.
