Itinerary description

An exciting hike in Sierra de Mariola Nature Park. All three peaks offer amazing views in different directions.

If you prefer to see more cava's there are many to visit in the Nature Park. There are some tracks to follow here on Wikiloc that are covering them in larger extent than this route. There are also many alternative starting points to choose from, which cover additional landmarks.

There are a few shortcuts on this track that one might find challenging (deviating from visible and available paths). The first one is the last 140 meters up to Pico Teix (it's steep with loose rocks). In addition there are six minor short-cuts on the return path (to avoid zig-zagging on the road from El Recingle down to Santuari d'Agres).

Circular clockwise:
- Pico Teix at 1,264 m asl. (2.9 km)
- Refugio Montcabrer (3.3 km)
- El Dit (5.3 km)
- Cim de Montcabrer at 1,390 m asl. (6.2 km)
- Pou de neu del Sesteret del Sapo (7.5 km)
- Cava Gran (9.1 km)
- El Recingle at 1,244 m asl. (9.9 km)

I was back on the path 100 meters before I took this picture and was outside it for approx. 100 meters (please study the map so you don't do the same mistake).

Your next challenge? Anyhow - a more narrow path starts from this point.

The alternative to this steep climb is to walk up the hillside to the left - by continuing on the "normal" path you arrived from.

Easy to miss the left turn here, which I did when recording this track (I came back on track after returning 20-30 meters).

Approx. 100 meters from El Recingle in direction towards Pico Teix (this way point is located in the hillside above Cava Gran. You could return down to the Cava from here and then make the return by the gravel road instead of entering the path to the left here.

I decided to leave this path after 2-300 meters and took the first short-cut down to the gravel road below.

Leave the road and enter into this right path. An alternative is to continue along the gravel road. Both alternatives leads to the same destination, the Santuari. But isn't it funny to make short-cuts?
