Itinerary description
We headed to Lozzi to park by the camping site to pickup the path to follow the yellow markers all the way to the summit. The path rises before dropping down to cross a stream to arrive at the Refuge de l'Ercu. The next section was tough - an unrelentingly steep path across scree requiring lots of effort. Progress was slow before we reached the prominent rocks where we needed to scramble up gullies and crevices on the south east ridge to reach the summit. Superb 360 views from the summit. We too hung around for an hour before starting the descent back to the car - the scree sections were more difficult in descent.
We found the walk physically tough going due to the extended steep scree sections, but the scrambling leading to the summit was such great fun and much less effort than that pesky scree.
