Itinerary description
A stunning hike - we rode the bus from Nerín to the bus stop close to the viewpoint over the Ordesa Valley. We saw some wild boar along the way. We hiked from the bus stop to Goriz Refuge, and from there up the normal route passing the Frozen Tarn and up the "Escupidera" (the place that spits you out) to the summit. It had rained and snowed the day before, and we should have brought crampons. We were lucky in that the snow was relatively soft, so it tended to stop you if you slid. However next time I will carry crampons and an ice axe if there is the faintest chance of snow or ice just in case, as it would be a pity to arrive there and find those were needed... If it were icy, I doubt I would go to the summit. It was a marvellous day, and the hike was great, treating us with generally good weather and truly outstanding views. We descended using the safety chain above the Cola de Caballo waterfall, and we walked down the Ordesa Valley to the parking area in the Pradera. I highly recommend this hike for anyone keen on views and mountains.
