Itinerary description
Motril: Camino de Panamá (SL-A 315)
This trail is not easy to do as there is no real trail to be seen in parts.
The first part is paved, then the trail goes down a pretty steep hill through what seems to be a river bed. At least right now, it is all overgrown and hard to walk. Some passages that would be easier to walk have been fenced off by agriculrural companies.
Knowing that and preparing accordingly, the trail is interesting. On normal days, the view must be great. On this day there was Calima (Sahara dust) moving in, so no views of the Sierra Nevada or any other mountains.
The part along the Guadalfeo is very interesting with old canal structures and the Motril waterworks.
For the return walk I chose a different route which was mostly paved, but more interesting than I thought it would be.

Waypoints
Intersection
870 ft
Left down the stairs
The original path has been cut off by a gate. The descend goes down the creek. At the moment it is completely overgrown and, unfortulately, full of trash.
Waypoint
867 ft
No real path here
Careful, since the "path" is overgrown, it is hard to see where you are going. Totally doable, however, if you proceed carefully.
Panorama
740 ft
View
The path overgrown, but doable and in good weather, the view is probably great.
Waypoint
697 ft
There used to be a path, but now it's fenced in
The actual path is now loccated behind the fence and not accessible. Keep going down the river bed, but carefully.
Waypoint
547 ft
Calima rolling in
Today was Calima, i.e. Sahara dust coming in from Africa. It's taking away the beutiful views, but is interesting to observe nonetheless.
