Itinerary description
This hike is a spectacular hike following various trails along the upper reaches of the Brisbane river between the Mount Crosby Weir and the Kholo road crossing. The majority of the trail follows bushland fire trails with a number of steep sections.
There is one small section where a shortcut is taken to avoid further distance. There are a number of vantage points along the way to view the river including the signature viewing platform used as the first picture of this trail.
There are two sections of trial which require the walking along roadways and both are attached to the two water crossings on the hike. There are no facilities or water stations along the way so be sure to carry all the water that you would require. It is recommended that this hike be undertaken during the winter months.

Interesting hike with a spectacular view of the Brisbane River. Hills were not big but enough to get the heart ticking. There are now many mown roads which made navigating a little challenging. Also found the SEQ signs worrying as I wasn’t sure it was okay to be on their land.
The signage you refer to specifically refers to vehicles and motorbikes. In the 6 times that I have done this route I have run into at least 100 people also walking in the area and it is commonly walked by locals who live adjoining to the land.
Similar provisions exist as with other SEQ properties around Wivanhoe , Enoggera Reservoir and Lake Manchester.
Just near the hoop pine forest they are clear felling right down to the river ???? What are they doing, making a picnic area ???
