Itinerary description

A circular route of Mount Guajara with an amazing view of Mt Teide.

We started our hike from the car park near Paradores Canadas del Teide, (it took us about 20 - 30 min. to park so I would recommend to get there early) following route 15.
Even though the information desk suggested to follow R5 for the ascent to Mt Guajara summit and R15 for the descend we did exactly the opposite and I would strongly recommend to do the same and follow the circular route anticlockwise. R15 is a bit steep and demanding but not difficult trail. In my opinion is better to use your energy in the beginning of the trail to ascend Guajara through R15 and then have a much smoother way down through R5 avoiding hurting your knees.

If you don't want to push hard I would suggest you follow R5 for ascending and descending.

Whichever route you choose make sure you enjoy the unreal view of Teide Park and Tenerife Island above the clouds.
