Itinerary description
This hike goes up to the rear of the botanical garden, and i kept it tracking down the trolly. The hike is steep. It’s shaded, but you will be hot, so i recommend going early. Suggest long pants, benadryl, and 3L water, in addition to some snacks. There are water and snacks at the top for sale. Lots of seeds got stuck in our legs. No bugs in May.
It’s good exercise, but the view from the top is obviously no better than what you can get from taking the cable car. Keep in mind the trailhead is NOT at the base of the cable car, it is at the backside of a local neighborhood. The trailhead at the base of the cable car is guarded by “guides” who require you to pay them to hike you up the mountain. If you are an experienced hiker, they are not necessary at all. However, they will try to prevent you from going up, going so far as to saying they will call the national guard to stop you LOL. Avoid them by starting your hike at the trailhead in the neighborhood.
The trail is fairly easy to follow. It could get pretty slippery if it was wet.
Hopefully this helps someone, as we were hardly able to find much info.
