Itinerary description
The 4km hike to the top of Mt Beerwah, from the eastern side, is not for the faint hearted.
It should only be attempted with an experienced guide, once you have plenty of mountain climbing experience. Having said that, the rewards for all the hard work are really amazing. Start from the Mt Beerwah carpark and head off on a well marked bush track till you reach the base at the eastern side. From here, its a case of slowly working your way up the steep and sometimes slippery, rock walls and ridges. Most of the way up you will have great views of Tibro and Mt Coonowrin, so take your time and enjoy the outlook. There is even a large cave to check out, before you get half way up. Once you reach the top you will be in awe of the 360 degree views around the Glasshouse countryside. Our descent was via the tourist route. It has some interesting sections to explore such as the tall cliff line known as the Organ Pipes. Enjoy the hike and be extremely careful. Thanks Jeffrey. Epic hike. Lost the track at one bit and had to find my own way to the summit which was extremely difficult climbing.
