Itinerary description

Nice and not so hard morning hike to the first view point; great view, just a few poeple and no cars like on view point 2; walked down to the valley and up the Bromo; at the bottom of the Bromo many cars and people as it is a touristic place;
but the whole hike was definitely worth it

    Hi, I am planning to do a similar hike at Mt Bromo. My problem is planning to get to Cemoro Lawang from Malang city. May I ask how did you reach Cemoro Lawang? And was it a designated trail?

    Hi Wihanab,
    As Mt. Bromo is a very popular destination for tourists there has been devoloped a quite big tourism industry. Getting there isn't a problem at all, however, getting there for a reasonable price is the problem. If you arrive during the day before the late afternoon there should be a bus or microlet. If you arrive after 4pm you probably have to hire an overpriced taxis. (this is what I had to do, IDR 300,000). Being there, it's quite easy to find and to walk. Just use my GPS data. There is also a second, higher view point. However, people told me that it's not worth it to go there. Moreover, all the tourist go there by car. So, the first view point (where I went) seems to be just perfect. My recommendation: Leave very early in the morning so that you can see the sunrise.
    Enjoy the beautiful landscape and take care!
