Itinerary description
Starting at the road next to Diamantina hut follow the Razorback to a junction at the base of little feathertop. It’s a Fairly easy well maintained track with great views. From here it is 1.5km to the summit.
After speaking with your god head back down to the base collect your clothes and continue back the way you came another 1.5km till you reach a sign saying west kilwa river. This track is Diamantina spur. It is 4.5 km long and it will take the marrow from your leg bones. Prepare for steep rocky downhill fun. Only level 60 and above lunatics should attempt in wet weather. If you reach the end you will be treated with a flat road and mountain river for your valiant effort. Take a dip and be reborn.
Now that your recovered follow the river road south until you reach a junction at red robin battery, head uphill towards dibbins hut. Here you will be greeted with a toilet, river, and campsites. The perfect place to pass out after a long days march.
Once your awake and rested head over the bridge and across the flat grassland to swindlers spur track. Don’t panic. They were kind enough to put some stairs on this one. Slap those lazy kids you call legs into action and head upwards for 4km to Derrick hut. You can relax now the hard parts are done. take in the views as you meander towards Mt loch and then down to the alpine Rd. From here you could follow the road straight back to your car broken and defeated, or you could head straight across the road and stride triumphantly towards the summit like the champion you know you are.
Ignore all those other assholes there taking pictures with their kids, they cheated. They know nothing of overcoming pain and suffering,
and against all the odds defying Mother Nature. You did it! and you could do it again if you wanted too, just not today cause u got stuff to do. So take your panorama then follow the signage down the arse end and back to your car.
