Itinerary description
WARNING: You must be comfortable with free climbing /scrambling and heights.
You start by following the Waterfall Gorge trail.
Just before heading down into the creek there is a faint trail to the right heading down along the side of a rock embankment. At the bottom there is a nice little plunge pool. This is the place we started our ascent to the razorback.
The steep accent leading to the top of the razorback is extremely unstable, many of the handholds are set at a slight decline, which increases the difficulty and quite loose, and crumbly in places.
Extreme care is required!
Choose your own path carefully, Wikiloc doesn't work well in steep scrambling sections.
Note: There are probably several different routes of ascent up to the Razorback - I would like to explore a steep Gully further east (maybe next vist - may be easier).
The Razorback: Awesome, steep rocky with great views BUT scary because you feel the massive rocks are teetering on the edge of falling and therefore you step very softly and gently as you scramble along.
You don't want to be the final straw that sends a massive slab tumbling down with "you" on top!
After the Razorback it's becomes a comfortable hike to the regular lookout stop overlooking Moogerah Lake and then returning to the carpark via Waterfall Gorge.
