Itinerary description

At 5,895m Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa and the highest free standing volcano in the world. With seven official trekking routes our six member Canadian team chose the seven-day Machame Route to reach the summit. The first five days we gained 3600m over 42km before reaching base camp, then starting at midnight made the final 1200m push to the summit. Cresting the peak at daybreak we gazed in awe at a 360 degree view from the roof of Africa!

We booked with G Adventures who were great: 1 team leader plus 2 trail guides, a cook and about 20 support staff - all locals who work very hard. Good Times!

Absolutely. The air becomes so thin it’s difficult to breathe. Congrats on making the trek👏
