Itinerary description
With a group of hiking friends
We last did Semangkok, way back in 2018. It was our first truly tough hike. We clocked in at 19 hours. So, of course, now, we want to challenge ourselves, just to see how many hours, we can shave off, this time. And damn, we were lucky. Bright day, no signs of rain, even though we were told that it has been raining, the whole week. If it does rain, a darn tough trail like this, will definitely be even worse. And of course, we wouldn't be able to clock in, as we did. Phew...
One thing for sure, thanks to climate change, the weather has been nuts. And it shows! The original trail's landscape has changed, so much, since we've last did Fraser Hill's Pine Tree Trail, let alone Semangkok. Landslide, fallen trees, you name it. And with newer trail being opened, to counter the closing of old trail, due to natural disasters, that means the newer ones, are still raw, and, longer than the old ones.
Nonetheless, we're grateful. For the good weather that the universe has graciously granted us, to being able to achieve a better result.
Supposed Itinerary:
03.30 Trailhead
04.00 Start hike
06.30 Pine Tree Summit
07.00 Twin Peaks Summit
09.00 COT, Sg. Merah Campsite
11.20 Helipad
13.20 Semangkok Summit
16.20 Sg. Merah Campsite
19.20 Twin Peaks Summit
22.50 Trailhead
