    Hi!

Next october i'm going to berner oberland with my school (12-18 years old students) from spain. Do you think it's a good idea to go down to murren from schilthorn with young students? we'll reach schilthorn by cable car, of course.

Otherwise, could you recommend to me another beautiful and easy (3-4 hours) track to go with my kids in lauterbrunnen area??

    thank you very much

I do not recommend this. First of all, down is harder than up. Second of all, the route is dangerous, and if you have children under your care, it would be sad to explain to the parents that their child fell of the side of a mountain. I would rather recommend the walk from Murren to Schwagalp. There's a train in Schwagalp that takes you back to Murren. About the same length, it's safer and nicer to walk. You see more too.

Apologies, I meant Grutschalp, not Schwagalp. Schwagalp is under the Santis in Appenzell. Grutschalp is the switch point, when you go from Lauterbrunnen to Murren (you take a cablecar to Grutschalp and then switch to train to Murren). The 'u' has an umlaut, so it may also be spelled Gruetschalp. Hope that helps; apologies for the misleading info. Alex.

Just did the walk this week. Trail is still as documented.

Has anyone done this hike in May! I'll be there in early May and looking at which trails are available. Thanks

I think it's unlikely. There's still too much unmelted snow in May. This is usually best in the height of summer, or even late summer. Anything is possible of course, and it has happened that summer has come early, but it's unlikely. Probably not what you wanted to hear, apologies.
