Itinerary description
Beautiful, very challenging hike, we were walking at a steep incline most of the time. We planned to hit two peaks, but we skipped Buochserhorn because we were short on time (and tired). The trail was very well marked, and at the top there was a very cute cheese and meat restaurant beside a farm. Breathtaking views the whole way up especially after the beginning.
We took two separate gondolas to get down, ~$8 each. Definitely bring poles if you plan to hike down.
There were many other trails to take from the top of the first gondola. If you’d like to start from higher up, you can easily take the gondola up instead of starting from the path directly leaving the parking lot of the gondola
Recommended by the nice lady at our hotel front desk as a very local hike: “you won’t see any tourists” (as compared to Pilatus)
There was a pretty site towards the beginning with a grill and firewood available. It seems like it would be open to the public to use
There was some pavement walking involved, but not a lot, don’t be scared away.
There was a chance for mountaineering near the top between Buocshserhorn and musenalp, but we went around it because we apparently didn’t have proper equipment
From luzern, it was an easy train ride, ~$7.50 each way, make sure to use Google maps for timing, because the trains only run every hour or so
