Itinerary description

One of the toughest walks in the schedule with fantastic views throughout. After El Campico we descend into the barranco before the steep climb through the ruined La Solana to a high of 670 metres . A tricky descent back into the rambla before getting our breath back for the long ascent to 704 metres towards El Alberico.

I have followed this trail  View more

Excellent route, we very much enjoyed it. Good scenery and atmosphere from the ruined villages giving a sense of times past.

It is mostly on tracks that are easy to follow, with two exceptions. The route climbing up from the barranco to La Solana is not obvious. We were lured too far right/north by a terrace wall that we assumed had the track above. It did not, it was steep and loose above. We returned to the bottom then found the correct way which is obvious once you are on it. Secondly descending to the next ruined village, Cortijada del Barranco de la Mina, there is no no one obvious track, just bits all over the place. However it is easy enough to find a way down.
