Itinerary description
We took the train "Flamsbanen" from Flam to the station "Vatnahalsen". This is the last stop before you reach Myrdal. We started walking in the wrong direction, ignoring the signs and trusting our common sens to start walking down. But this was the wrong choise. :)
Knowing this we would advise to just get out of the train in Myrdal.
It is a nice walk down. The last 3km are not so spectacular but the rest of the route is very nice. The beginning of the route is on gravel road going down fast. Then it becomes a normal road.

This is a very easy trail to follow, especially downwards from Myrdal to Flåm, without any technical difficulties. The trail starts from Myrdal train station with visible signs at the platform (to rallarvegen). After a couple of kms of gravel road with hairpins it becomes less steep on an unpaved road with some minimal car traffic. Just watch for all the cyclists going down the road fast! After a few kms further down it becomes a normal road that goes through small villages. The sights on the way include a few bridges, plenty of waterfalls, and even a tunnel which you go straight through.
