Itinerary description

A shorter route than from the village of Nans-les-Pins. Still no easy walk, as the ascent at the end is quite challenging. The entire route is unpaved.

The starting point can by reached by car from Nans-les-Pins. There is an official parking bay for 4 cars of so at the starting point. Just have a look at the last waypoint of this route for more information about the parking bay.

We did this hike in July 2021, at 33 °C. That was quite okay, but we needed 2 liters of water per person. We were with our children (12 and 10 years old).

Shortly after this waypoint, we continued following the white and red markings towards the hostellerie. It would be easier to turn right and take the shortcut, until you reach the large tank.

Follow the main road to the right, until you reach the parking lot opposite the hostellerie. Follow the path at the far end of the parking lot. We walked a bit further towards the second parking lot next to the hostellerie, but there’s nothing to be seen there.

No water in July. Follow the path along the river bed until you reach the end of the sanctuary, which is indicated by a large wooden billboard. Then turn right, into the small and very steep path.

This climb is very steep and quite strenuous.

Way marker 37 can be found along you climb. The ascent is still very steep.

This is where your steep climb ends. The little chapel is on the left. You can see it from the steep path, it is only 20 meters or so from the narrow and steep path. Follow the wider road back to the starting point. It goes uphill, but not nearly as steep as the steep path you just left behind you.

You can park on the dedicated parking spot. When you drive uphill from the village, it is on your left side, along a straight stretch of road. The viewpoint in this photo is looking downhill, towards the village.
